Thank you for stopping in! While you are here, please make sure to check out:
- Blog: My work often involves the prototyping of ideas, and where possible I will share these ideas on the blog. See the Philantropic Web tab for more.
- Services: The link for practical help in addressing a broad range of technology needs.
The Stack: What tools are used on this site?
- Joomla: this site is based on Joomla!, a well recommended Content Management System (CMS).
- Google Sites: several sub-domains make use of Google Sites (a wiki). It is clean and straight forward in what it does, and of course works smoothly with Google Apps (and is free).
- Ning: the "create your own social network" people offer functions not available through Joomla or Google Sites, and using an as-supported model, is free (they can disappear for a small fee).
- Blogger for the blog
- SalesForce: the database that runs all of my business is SalesForce.
- Graphics:
- Jing: for screen capture and annotation
- Picassa for image storage and slideshows
- Zoomorama for large image navigation
- Photoshop for advanced stuff

Mobile phones to the rescue in Indonesia, Philippines and Samoa
From the UN Dispatch:
Over the weekend a deadly tropical storm slammed into the Philippines, causing severe flooding in urban areas and affecting tens of thousands.
Tuesday, a powerful underwater earthquake triggered a tsunami with waves 15 to 20 feet high that crashed into the Samoa islands, destroying homes and taking lives.
Then yesterday and today two successive [...]

The Wow is back: The new Wave
Consider this a message from the latest car show by a friend thunderstruck by a new wonder machine. On the one hand you know he is dazzled, but on the other hand a part of you wished you could play too - and this friend knows cars... so you listen, even if the friend is a bit tongue-tied.
Remember the first time you saw the Google search engine? One little box? instantaneous

Follow up: Vista Acquisition of MicroEdge
This an update to my comments on the pending acquisition of MicroEdge by Vista Equity Partners: (for my original post, see http://tinyurl.com/luzo5y) Responsiveness : the new administration scored points right away by reaching out to me and offering conversation to discuss my concerns, and this by a lead director. As a symbolic action, it speaks to a change that is welcome. Caveat: as
